Saturday At The Movies

2013/01/05

The Idle No More movement continues to spread across Canada and the rest of the world; it has declared that it’s here to stay. There have been round dances in intersections and malls across Turtle Island (North America).  Here’s a flash round dance held a week ago in the Mall of America; think about the symbolism of that!

I can’t decide whether the number of people recording the event (clearly a great many, since the few we can see in the clip must be only a fraction of the total) instead of joining in is a good thing, or a bad thing…

Notice also the slogan, “The Next Big Thing Is Here” above the mob? With the momentum of the Idle no More Campaign, this seems appropriate! 🙂

A famous Aussie poem begins . . .There was movement at the station for the word had passed around/ that the colt from old Regret had got away / he had joined the wild bush horses, he was worth a thousand pound / and all the cracks had gathered to the fray. . . .go have a look at the poem. THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER It does have a remarkably stirring quality. For some reason this post and the video just reminds me of this poem. Go figure!

I LOVE Man From Snowy River. We had both part one & two of the movies on VHS, but haven’t seen them on NetFlix yet. Thanks for the reminder to check again!
