It’s Time To Move On

It’s time to move on. Our country, and all of us, need to move from a fossil fuel past to a renewable energy future.
The mood in Britain has turned very much against the Big Six energy companies. And it’s not hard to see why. People are fed up with the unethical pricing, complex tariffs, awful customer service and the dire lack of investment in new sources of green energy.

It’s become quite unbearable, self evidently. Even the government are calling on people to leave the Big Six.

People Power can bring change to the energy sector — when people join Ecotricity they vote with their energy bills – and the more that do so the better. Together we can harness the energy bills of Britain and direct them to a proper outcome – the creation of a Green, energy independent Britain — a Green Britain.

  1. Another UK option is Good Energy; their website claims the firm is the UK’s only 100% renewable electricity supplier.

Ecotricity’s website claims that the green energy in their ‘mix’ is 54.5% which — perhaps unfairly — makes me wonder how much of their advertising is greenwashing (I know we have to start somewhere, but the place we should have started requires a time machine to get back to).

Hmmm… I see Which Green (note: ‘an Ecotricity initiative’) offers a comparison chart that claims that Ecotricity spends 82.8p/£ (that seems an awful lot — don’t they have some wages to pay?) on new renewable energy, whereas Good Energy only spends 7.3p/£ on it. That seems a big difference.

I guess the good news is that options like these offer some choice for those who pay the bills to vote with their pennies for movement in the right direction 🙂

    • Thanks for doing the homework on this one, P. You make an important point, not to take companies – no matter how green they appear at first glance – at face value.
