Our Food, Our Selves

Considering that most of the people reading this blog will be part of the lucky global minority who eats at least three times a day, it is astonishing how little thoughtful consideration most of us (myself included) give to food, which powers us through the rest of our day. Any CEO who gave as little thought to the makeup and logistics of his or her workforce would, justifiably, be fired in short order. Yet we blithely carry on, consuming all manner of food, healthy or not, whenever we get the urge. What if, like our relationship to our planet and the ecosystem that sustains us, our relationship to the food we need to nourish us is broken? And what if we restored a right relationship to food?  Is it possible that our connection to the planet will also be healed?

In this short video, Jamie Oliver, Micheal Pollan, Anna Lappe, and others reflect on what really nourishing ourselves, our families, and our world, means. It’s clear that much of what is accepted as normal in our industrialized, urbanized, hectic culture is the opposite.
