The Earth Is Full

2012/04/04

For TED talk Tuesday, here’s Paul Gilding, author of The Great Disruption: Why Climate Change Will Bring About The End of Shopping And the Birth of A New World. At TED 2012 Gilding addressed the issue of whether or not we humans have used up all our resources. While the first part of the talk may be difficult to listen to, as he lists all of the problems humans are facing as a result of our unsustainable Western lifestyles, hang in there until the end. It’s worth it! And if you haven’t read The Great Disruption yet, I highly recommend it; while Gilding doesn’t mince his words about the mess we are currently in, his reassurance (with examples to back it up) is that humans are slow but not stupid; we will respond to the climate and environmental crisis in time to make a real difference for our children and grandchildren. He hasn’t been proven wrong yet – let’s see what the next few years bring.

Fear is the mind-killer. I will face my fear; I will let it pass through me.
